I loved this one. All the main characters are likable, the story is fast-paced, and there were some twists you just don’t expect, even if you’re a Deaver fan. Sure, some of the characters’ move were more like psychic than anticipatory/logical, but the author presents it in a believable manner.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I did not enjoy this book very much, that’s why it took me more than 7 months to finish it. I pre-ordered a special edition that comes with a book bag, and got it the day it came out. I started reading it during the weekend, and knew from the first few pages that I wouldn’t like it. I stuck to it though because it’s J.K. Rowling and there might be a pay off in the end. Well, the ending was satisfying enough. You know a book like this will only have to end in tragedy, and it did. But there was a hopeful tone to it, so that’s a good thing. I would have only given the book 2 stars, but I liked Rowling’s writing style so I gave it an extra star.

I read faster when…

How come I read faster when I am almost finished with a book? Maybe it’s the thought of “I’m almost done” that pushes me. I’m about to finish J.K. Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy. I started it last year, in September, the day it was released. The genre is very different from those that I read; I only bought/read the book because it’s from Rowling. Anyway, there’s about 140 pages left, and the story’s gotten more interesting. I hope I can finish it this weekend. I’m 4 books behind the Goodreads challenge so I need to pick up the pace!
